I love to perform laser refractive procedures. I have so many happy patients who are enthusiastic about sending their relatives and friends. It is truly a miracle to be able to relieve a patient of a lifetime of being shackled to glasses and contact lenses.
Imagine performing a nearly painless, bloodless, 10-minute procedure on a patient that requires no medical testing, and having them return the next day with excellent vision, feeling perfectly well. Observing their broad smile and newfound sense of freedom is a true joy. Even more heartening is the change in their sense of self, and with it, a positive change in personality.
I repeatedly ask myself: With a technology so proven, safe and effective, why are there so many people still trapped in glasses and contacts?
The answer, I believe, lies in three areas: fear of the procedure itself, doubts about long-term results, and concern for the cost.
In my experience, fear is best combated by a warm, caring, professional relationship with the doctor. We provide extensive information and answer questions, but more importantly, we are supportive of our patients and are aware of their individual needs. This is not an assembly-line office, so common with the cost-cutting, low-fee centers. Relaxing medications are also given prior to the procedure when appropriate to ease patients' apprehension.
As for results, a recent large study done in England (where laser refractive procedures were done well before here in the U.S.) showed that patients' vision remained stable after 12 years. My experience supports this finding.
Turning to the important issue of cost, I believe our fees are moderate when compared to other centers, and they represent excellent value.
We offer a variety of payment options, including zero-percent financing. Please call our laser vision coordinator, Nicole Hildebrandt, to discuss these options.
Why be a slave to glasses and contacts when you could have a new sense of freedom and self? Please do not let fear or cost keep you from having this wonderful procedure.
I invite you to our office for a complimentary consultation.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Nightingale, M.D.
